It is amazing how quickly it has grown. It all began with the desire to raise our own

eggs and chicken,in view of the health concerns of commercially raised meat, not to mention the inhumane treatment of the animals that go along with commercialization. A few chickens and laying hens quickly turned into quite the little farm, which is steadily growing. We are currently raising Quail,Quail eggs, domestic rabbit,Cornish Cross chickens and two pigs.It is a lot of work and consumes a lot of time but is very rewarding. It gives me great piece of mind knowing what I am feeding my family.

Those changes have required a lot of my time blogging time and I have truly missed it.It is my goal to designate more time for The Floppy Cow in the near future.I look forward to sharing photos and stories of my life as a farm chick, as well new and exciting things happening with The Floppy Cow.

One of our my most popular items at The Floppy Cow has been chosen as a featured in The March issue of Country Living Magazine. How funny that the item is made from chicken wire. I am quite excited and appreciative. Thanks CLM!

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">One of the very first blogs that I linked up with was Gina over at The Shabby Chic Cottage for Transformation Thursday.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I saw the post by Tales from an OC Cottage on the "well Dressed Starfish" and fell in love. I could hardly wait to try my hand at making my own.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I already had the starfish, a couple of weeks ago, I found 2 huge bags of beautiful white finger starfish at Goodwill!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I already had the old vintage books, the perfect little gold frame that could be white washed but I did run out and purchase more burlap and a bag of charms.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I cut strips from the old book in the shape of the "arms" of the starfish, glued them on using super tacky glue and then applied my first coat of Mod Podge. While these were drying, I whitewashed the gold frame with Folk Art ivory white, acrylic paint. This dried in no time. I covered the cardboard back with burlap and glued it with the super tacky glue as well. When the starfish was nice in dry, about an hour,I picked out the perfect bling and tied it to the starfish with hemp cord. I left enough slack in the cord so that the charm would hang loosely and hit the center of the starfish.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> There ya have it!

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I estimate that the entire project cost around 3 bucks and took maybe an hour and a half to make and a lot of this was drying time.

<b style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I used a lamp shade that I had picked up at Goodwill for 2 bucks. The paint is Jacquard textile in 122 black, for natural and synthetic fabrics. The brush that is used when painting a script makes all the difference in the world. The finer the point, the better . I used a number 4350 liner,by American Painter.
<b style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I did exactly as Gina taught us,printed out the script that I wanted, then taped it to the inside of the shade, with the lamp turned on and then painted away!
<b style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For the postal marks,I used my Cavallini stamping set and then just painted over the top of the stamped image. It really was not as hared as I had anticipated it being and I estimate my cost at around 5 bucks max!

<b style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
We have been adding new items to our inventory and some of them are amazing! We have purchased several vintage pieces and I can hardly wait to get them posted so you guys can see them. I will be posting here on my blog and in my ebay store as well as my newly opened Etsy store.

I was as busy as a bee, working on the new listings this morning when my hubby calls to inform that he has stopped by our local Habitat for Humanity. Argh...he went junking without me! I could tell by the excitement in his voice that he was on to something nice. As you recall, several months ago,he dropped in and found our awesome vintage drafting table that is almost identical to the one Pottery Barn sold. So this morning during his breeze through visit,he finds a dining room table that has made my heart skip a beat or two already and I have only seen a couple of pictures.I do not know if I can handle seeing this beauty in person. The table has dovetail joints and my husband believes that the top is made of solid wormy chestnut. There are two drawers, side by side. The price was $155.00. Before my husband could even leave the store, he was offerred 300.00 for the table.
No way Jose'!

I kid you not, just last night I suggested to him that I would like to paint the lower section and legs of our dinning room table black, while leaving the top the natural wood color. He cringed..lol
I canhardly wait to see this in our dinning room. I will be scouting around for mismatched vintage chairs to place around this gem.So for now,I will go back to working on our new inventory and try my best to focus.

Tell me, what do you think?

We know very little about this table at this point other than the fact that we love it,it is quite old and we got an awesome deal!
