Happiness

There is just something about the rays of the sun shining through my windows that makes me happy, especially first thing of the morning.
Then of course, what is a more perfect ending to the day than a beautiful sunset?
It has been a colder, snowier winter that usual for us here in W.N.C. so I have really been enjoying the spring sunshine.

I picked up the cutest woman's straw hat at Goodwill last week. I removed the scarf from it,washed it with my favorite lavender linen wash, hung it to dry in the sunshine and then pressed it.I have an idea brewing in my little brain,I just need to find the perfect F_e_c_  S_r_p_ for it.

I will share with you as soon as she is finished!

Enjoy the sunshine~

Antique Framed Shabby Rose Print

I have been "ubber" busy the past week or so and haven't had time to post like I would like to.
We have a lot of new inventory coming in almost daily and it is very time consuming.
I did want to take the time to share this beautiful print with you.
There is just something about this framed print of roses that "hypnotizes" me. Isn't it funny how once in a while you will come across a decor item that is love at first sight? Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

Antique French 19th Century Mother of Pearl Opera Glasses

Here is one for all of my "cottage" gals.
A lovely antique set of mother of pearl opera glasses, made in France.
The glasses are engraved with what appears to be a serial number and the year 1908.
I must keep reminding myself that we picked these up for the shop, not my as an accent piece for my bedroom decor.  *sigh*

Oh the life ,enjoy!

Pottery Barn Calligraphy Lamp Shade Hack

I loved the french script lamp shade that Gina over at  The Shabby Cottage Chic
made a few weeks ago and have been wanting to try my hand at making one.
I finally found a few free moments this week to work on it.
I used a lamp shade that I had picked up at Goodwill for 2 bucks. The paint is Jacquard textile in 122 black, for natural and synthetic fabrics. The brush that is used when painting a script makes all the difference in the world. The finer the point, the better . I used a number 4350 liner,by American Painter.
I did exactly as Gina taught us,printed out the script that I wanted, then taped it to the inside of the shade, with the lamp turned on and then painted away!
For the postal marks,I used my  Cavallini stamping set and then just painted over the top of the stamped image. It really was not as hared as I had anticipated it being and I estimate my cost at around 5 bucks max!

So, tell me what do you think?
Did I do Okay?

And oh, by the way, the table edge that you see in the background of the picture, that is the antique trestle table that my sweetie picked up for me a few days ago at Habitat for Humanity. More on that later!

New Vintage Inventory Habitat for Humanity Find

Oh my word!
The last eight days have been crazy busy and fun. We have been adding new items to our inventory and some of them are amazing! We have purchased several vintage pieces and I can hardly wait to get them posted so you guys can see them. I will be posting here on my blog and in my ebay store as well as my newly opened Etsy store.

I was as busy as a bee, working on the new listings this morning when my hubby calls to inform that he has stopped by our local Habitat for Humanity. Argh...he went junking without me! I could tell by the excitement in his voice that he was on to something nice. As you recall, several months ago,he dropped in and found our awesome vintage drafting table that is almost identical to the one Pottery Barn sold. So this morning during his breeze through visit,he finds a dining room table that has made my heart skip a beat or two already and I have only seen a couple of  pictures.I do not know if  I can handle seeing this beauty in person. The table has dovetail joints and my husband believes that the top is made of  solid wormy chestnut. There are two drawers, side by side. The price was $155.00. Before my husband could even leave the store, he was offerred  300.00 for the table.
No way Jose'!

I kid you not, just last night I suggested to him that I would like to paint the lower section and legs of our dinning room table black, while leaving the top the natural wood color. He cringed..lol
I canhardly wait to see this in our dinning room. I will be scouting around for mismatched vintage chairs to place around this gem.So for now,I will go back to working on our new inventory and try my best to focus.

Tell me, what do you think?

We know very little about this table at this point other than the fact that we love it,it is quite old and we got an awesome deal!

Vintage Lineberry Industrial Factory Carts CoffeeTable

We took a crazy road trip yesterday to pick up our vintage Lineberry industrial carts
I fell in love with these crates when I first saw them online at Restoration Hardware
The price tag sent me on my merry way rather quickly.
I love the fact that a piece history is being preserved and turned into an awesome furniture piece.

Pottery Barn also offers an similar cart table but it is a reproduction only.

I am excited to announce to my my blog friends and customers that I will now be offering these industrial cart coffee tables. These carts are the same exact carts that Restoration Hardware carries, only we can offer them at a much better price. We will only have a very limited supply available
and plan to offer the carts both refinished and untouched.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or to place your order.
